Enjoy an amazingly eclectic collection of American architecture spanning over 200 years. Start with a brief look at Savannah's most important legacy - it's innovative city plan. Then, stroll through time to discover how the city's history of architecture is a reflection of her diverse population and their exciting history. Historic preservation issues are included. Approximate time: 2 hours. Distance covered: 1.2 miles. Note: This Ramble starts on Johnson Square and ends near Oglethorpe Square - it is a very pleasant, short, and direct walk back to the start point or you may wish to hire a bike taxi for a quick ride back.

Continue to explore Savannah as the streets start to cool and enjoy the elegant architecture of Savannah's most prosperous age. The buildings are roughly in chronological order to give a sense of how the splendor of "King Cotton" unfolded into Savannah's unique architectural legacy. Approximate time: 2 hours, Distance covered: 1.1 mileNOTE: Because of Savannah's large number of historic structures, there is no overlap in the buildings presented.
